Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between Manipal International University and NIIT College on 30 August 2013

KUCHING: The Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signed between NIIT College and Manipal International University will contribute to the workforce needed in the SCORE development project.
According to NIIT College chief executive officer, Anderson Voon, the collaboration marks a milestone of smart partnership aimed to train and produce hands-on and skilled workforce.
“The collaboration between NIIT College and Manipal International University is in line with the objectives of SCORE. The demand for both semi-skilled and skilled manpower is now becoming more dominant.
“As such the state government has concentrated on manpower development to ensure all Sarawakians could be properly trained to secure good jobs.
“It would be a challenging task for us but I am confident we can overcome it with the collaborations with various universities. We hope the collaboration will bring great benefits to Sarawakians and raise their level of competency,” he said at the MoA signing ceremony yesterday.
Vice chancellor of Manipal International University, Tan Sri Dato Dr Mohd Salleh Mohd Yasin, said he was very excited to be linking up with NIIT College in industrial-based programmes in Business and Engineering.
“We have always wanted to be different in our programmes. One of the strategies of being different is to work with international partners, industry partners as well as academic partners.
“We look forward to a long and sustainable partnership with NIIT and we hope that our graduates will be the feeder for SCORE’s human capital needs.
“The MoA will also give students the opportunity to have access to higher education and learn to be useful citizens in the future,” he said.
Also at the function, NIIT awarded scholarships to four students from SMK Siburan who achieved excellent results or straight A’s in their 2012 SPM. They were Bong Ming Hui, Ho Xiang Xiang, Khong Pay Ni and Liew Siat Yee, who are currently pursuing Diploma in Accountancy at NIIT.
